Frequently Asked Questions 2010

1.             What is the cost of coaching sessions?

Group coaching sessions cost £6 per hour. An extra 50p is added to the cost of each session if players are not members.

2.             How do I become a member?

Membership information packs are available from outside the clubhouse these contain information about first year membership discounts and a membership application form. Juniors can join for as little as £37 in their first year – that’s only £3 per month.

3.             What should I wear?

Players should wear recognised tennis clothing - this does not have to be white. For new players to the game please do not buy expensive “named” sportswear. T-shirts and tracksuit bottoms/shorts are fine. Please wear plimsolls or tennis shoes rather than grooved running shoes - as these can damage artificial grass courts.

4.             Which group session should I apply for?

This is not easy to answer without seeing players in action. If you are unsure please give me a call and I will make a judgement based on age, sporting history and the standard of other players in each group. All groups are flexible, so players can be moved part way through the course should a group or combination of children prove to be unsuitable.

5.             Do I need to be a member of the club to have lessons?

No. However, it would be advantageous for players to join so that social tennis can be played outside of your coaching sessions and the technique and skills learnt during sessions practised. Non members pay an extra 50p per group coaching session.

6.             Can I join a course after it has started?

Yes. The cost will be pro rata for the number of remaining weeks.

7.             What will happen if a course is over subscribed?

Players will be entered on a first come first serve basis. Unsuccessful players will be notified as soon as possible. If you have return a course application form and have not been told otherwise assume you are on the course, as confirmation notification will not be issued.

8.             How do I know if a lesson has been cancelled when the weather is bad?

The coach will attempt to phone all players prior to the start of the lesson, however this is not always possible, therefore if you have not received a call please phone the coach on their mobile to confirm arrangements.

9.             What happens if a lesson is cancelled due to bad weather?

Players will be given credit that can be used on subsequent courses.

10.          Can I pay by instalments?

Yes, I will happily take post-dated cheques at the start of the course.

11.          What should I do if I know I will be unable to attend all sessions during the course due to holidays etc?

This is catered for on the course application form. Enter what dates you are unable to attend and reduce the total course fee accordingly.
